Kremlin Special Envoy Kirill Dmitriev reported that Moscow and Kyiv are "close" to ending the war, and stated that US sanctions will not have a "significant" impact

He also allowed for the possibility of a prisoner exchange with the US, noting that "there are some discussions"

In a conversation with CNN, Dmitriev stated the approaching final resolution of the war in Ukraine through diplomatic means.

"Russia truly wants not just a ceasefire, but a final settlement of the conflict. And President [Donald] Trump wrote a truthful post about this. Because a ceasefire can always be broken, it is a temporary solution. Many can use it for rearming and preparing to continue fighting. I believe that Russia, the US, and Ukraine are actually quite close to a diplomatic solution," Dmitriev said on CNN.

The Kremlin's special representative considered Vladimir Zelensky's statement about readiness to freeze the conflict along the front line as a "big step," which, according to Dmitriev, indicates Kyiv's movement "towards a more realistic position." Although previously the Kremlin was not satisfied with this position, it voiced the demand to completely give up Donbass.

Dmitriev reported that the meeting between Trump and Putin will take place after thorough preparation, and also allowed for the possibility of a new prisoner exchange

In a broadcast on Fox News, Dmitriev commented on US sanctions, reiterating Putin's thesis that they will not have a "significant" impact on the Russian economy. According to Dmitriev, Russia "will simply sell less, but at higher prices."

There he also named three key issues for ending the war in Ukraine according to the Russian Federation. According to him, these are the format of security guarantees for Kyiv, the "territorial issue related to the Russian population," and Ukraine's neutral status, noting that "there are not so many issues" and "a solution can be found quite soon."

"There are some ideas regarding other broad exchanges that may take place. Perhaps not so much on high-profile cases, but on ordinary ones. There are some discussions," Dmitriev stated regarding the prospects of a prisoner exchange.
