Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reported to the Associated Press that 15 Palestinian technocrats have been selected to manage post-war Gaza, and their names have already been vetted by Israel. However, he did not disclose the names.
«We need to deploy them to ensure the daily life of Gaza's population, and the Peace Council must support and oversee the flow of funds and money that will come for Gaza's reconstruction», said the Egyptian diplomat, referring to the council that will manage Gaza and will be led by US President Donald Trump.
Abdelatty emphasized that the 15-member committee has already been approved by all Palestinian factions, including Hamas, highlighting that the terrorist group has generally welcomed Trump's plan.
According to the Egyptian Foreign Minister, Hamas members «play no role in the transition period. They are committed to this. That is why they are working on creating a Palestinian administrative committee that will handle the daily life of Gaza's residents».
For its part, Israel must carry out the withdrawal of troops from Gaza, ensure the flow of aid, and deploy the administrative committee on the ground to ensure the safety of the civilian population. Hamas must also fulfill its obligations, he said.
On October 13, as part of the agreement between Israel and Hamas, the last 20 hostages, who were still alive, returned home. However, as part of this first stage of the agreement, Hamas handed over to Israel the remains of only four out of 28 deceased hostages.
Israel accused Hamas of violating the terms of the agreement. Hamas, in turn, stated that intermediaries were warned at the time of signing the agreement that time would be needed to find all the remains.
Israel decided to impose sanctions on Hamas for failing to comply with the terms of the agreement. It is reported that on Wednesday, October 15, the Rafah crossing will not be open for Gaza residents to cross the border, and the volume of aid entering the sector will be reduced.
