The Viru County Court found Estonian citizen Ivan Dmitriev guilty, who the state prosecutor accused of conducting intelligence activities against Estonia, reported the ERR portal. The court sentenced him to actual imprisonment for four years and 11 months.
According to the accusation, Dmitriev, who was a member of the country's Defense League (Kaitseliit), collaborated with an officer of the operational department of the FSB Border Service, Alexander Bobkov, from March to May 2025. On his assignment, the Estonian citizen provided the FSB with information, including data on Kaitseliit members and the movement of military personnel in Narva. Dmitriev managed to collaborate with the FSB for only two months before the Security Police (KaPo) detained him and prevented further collaboration.
According to state prosecutor Triinu Olev-Aas, Dmitriev's further activities could have caused significant harm to Estonia's security. «Russia values various information it manages to gather about Estonia. Quickly suppressing crimes against the state and bringing individuals recruited by Russian special services to justice, especially in the current situation, is part of state defense», — believes Olev-Aas.
