WSJ: US to Provide Ukraine with Intelligence for Missile Strikes on Russia's Energy Infrastructure

2025.10.02

They are also considering the possibility of providing Ukraine with Tomahawk and Barracuda cruise missiles, but no final decision has been made yet

US President Donald Trump has approved the transfer of intelligence to Ukraine for targeting airstrikes on energy infrastructure deep within Russian territory, sources told The Wall Street Journal. This involves the transfer of intelligence not just for long-range airstrikes, but specifically for missile attacks. The next step for the Trump administration could likely be agreeing to provide Kyiv with more powerful weapons that would allow striking more targets inside Russia.

According to American officials, US President Donald Trump has authorized intelligence agencies and the Pentagon to assist Kyiv in carrying out strikes. Additionally, US officials are asking NATO allies to provide similar support.

Previously, Trump stated that Kyiv could reclaim its territories, marking a significant shift in Washington's policy, which had previously insisted that Kyiv had no cards. The expansion of intelligence sharing with Kyiv is evidence that Trump is moving from words to actions and is increasing military aid to Ukraine amid stalled peace talks, notes WSJ.

Thanks to the intelligence exchange, Ukraine will be able to more effectively target refineries, pipelines, power plants, and other facilities far behind the front lines, with the aim of depriving the Kremlin of income and resources to continue the war.

Simultaneously, the US is considering the possibility of providing Ukraine with Tomahawk, Barracuda, and other ground-to-ground and ground-to-air missiles with a range of up to 800 km. However, no final decision on the supply of these weapons has been made yet, sources emphasized.
