Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the indexation of salaries for civil servants and diplomats. Their salaries will increase by 7.6% from October 1. The document is published on the legal acts portal.
Salaries will also increase from October for military personnel, security staff, and several categories of budget workers.
In April, the government planned an indexation of 4.5% for them, but in July, the Ministry of Defense proposed raising military salaries by 7.6%.
In August, the cabinet approved the final indexation coefficient, and it was reported that the authorities allocated 30.8 billion rubles in the federal budget for three years, including 2025, for the indexation of salaries for the aforementioned workers.
Meanwhile, taxes for Russians will be raised "to ensure defense and security," increasing VAT from 20% to 22%. Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated in an interview with RBC that Russians are ready "for additional burdens in the current conditions."
