Two residents of Zaporizhzhia region sentenced to life imprisonment and 21 years in prison

2025.09.25

They were accused of providing the Armed Forces of Ukraine with information about the location of Russian military for strikes

The Zaporizhzhia Regional Court, established by Russian authorities, announced sentences for two residents of Tokmak, a man born in 1987 and a woman born in 1988, accused of being part of a sabotage community, sabotage, and espionage, the court's press service reported. The court sentenced the man to life imprisonment, and the woman to 21 years in a general regime colony.

According to the prosecution, in 2022, "harboring hostile feelings towards the ongoing special military operation, representatives of Russian authorities, and servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation," they contacted a representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In June 2023, the man provided the Ukrainian side with information about the location of a Russian checkpoint in Tokmak, after which a strike was carried out two days later, resulting in the death of four Russian soldiers and injuries to four others.

In July, the resident of Tokmak, as claimed by the prosecution, provided information about the location of Russian military near a highway. That evening, a "missile-bomb strike was carried out on the specified unit," resulting in the death of seven and injuries to 14 Russian soldiers.

Judging by the fact that the residents of the Zaporizhzhia region were tried for espionage, they were not Russian citizens.

This is not the first life imprisonment sentence for residents of the Zaporizhzhia region accused of providing data on Russian military. In early September, the Zaporizhzhia Regional Court issued a similar sentence to a resident of the Tokmak district born in 1991 for a case involving the transfer of Russian military positions to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for HIMARS strikes, resulting in the death of three people.
