Alexander Tyunin committed suicide, leaving a note saying he was tired of fighting depression

The body of the CEO of UMATEX, Alexander Tyunin, was found near his car on a country road in the area of the village of Kokoshkino (New Moscow), TASS reported. It is presumed that Tyunin committed suicide: a hunting rifle and a suicide note were found next to the body. According to "MK", the suicide note stated that he decided to end his life because he was tired of fighting depression for the fifth year, which "is getting worse".

The 50-year-old Alexander Tyunin became the CEO of the composite division of "Rosatom" and the scientific-production complex "Khimpromengineering" (later UMATEX) in 2016, having previously led telecommunications companies. In February 2023, UMATEX came under US sanctions.

UMATEX was engaged in import substitution of composite materials for the Russian medium-haul airliner MS-21. However, the "import-substituted" aircraft became 6 tons heavier, and its flight range was halved. Its mass production was postponed again.

Tyunin is already the 20th top manager to die under mysterious circumstances since the start of the war in Ukraine.
