The London police reported the detention of two men and one woman in Essex as part of an anti-terrorism investigation, writes Sky News. The suspects were taken to the police station and arrested in accordance with the National Security Act. Police conducted searches at their addresses, and the court released all three on bail while the investigation continues.
The head of the anti-terrorism service, Dominic Murphy, stated that the police are observing 'an increase in the number of individuals we could describe as "proxies" recruited by foreign intelligence services.' He cited the case of two Britons awaiting sentencing after they were recruited last year to commit arson at a warehouse in East London, which was used to aid Ukraine. However, he noted that 'today's arrests are in no way related to this investigation.'
No details of the charges against the three detainees have been disclosed by the police yet.
