Ukrainian drones attacked Gazprom's petrochemical plant in Bashkortostan and Lukoil's refinery in Volgograd

The refinery in Volgograd had already suspended operations after previous attacks

On the night and morning of September 18, Ukrainian drones attacked several regions of Russia, including targeting refineries in the Volgograd region and Bashkortostan.

According to Volgograd Governor Andrey Bocharov, as a result of the "repelling of a massive attack" by UAVs and the fall of debris from them in the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd, windows were shattered and roofs were damaged in two private houses. The Federal Air Transport Agency reported that Volgograd airport was closed for about 4 hours due to the drone threat.

The Lukoil refinery, with a capacity of 14.8 million tons per year, is one of the top 10 in the country and is one of the largest producers of petroleum products in the Southern Federal District. In August alone, it was attacked three times by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. As reported by Reuters, due to damage to several primary units, the plant suspended operations.

The head of Bashkortostan confirmed the attack on Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat LLC, part of Gazprom's structure, specifying that the refinery was attacked by two drones. The enterprise is engaged in the full cycle of hydrocarbon raw material processing and produces over 150 types of products, including gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, and polyethylene. Last year, a drone attacked the Salavat industrial zone, damaging the building of the oil complex's pumping station.
