The 2nd Eastern District Military Court in Chita sentenced 59-year-old Krasnoyarsk resident Yuri Sologub to 23 years in prison, a source familiar with the case told 'Mediazona'**.
The man was found guilty under articles on public calls for terrorism, participation in a terrorist organization, and treason. According to the court's decision, Sologub will spend the first three years in prison.
Sologub was born in the Khmelnytskyi region of Ukraine, but in the 90s he moved to Russia, exchanging his Soviet passport for a Russian one. He lived in Krasnoyarsk with his wife and worked at an asphalt plant as a loader.
According to the publication's source, Sologub was detained in October last year. Initially, he was only charged with participating in the activities of a terrorist organization. Other charges appeared in the case six months later.
Sologub was accused of corresponding with a representative of the 'Freedom of Russia' legion, which allegedly lasted from March 2024, and posting three flyers in support of the legion.
In court, Sologub did not deny the episodes about the correspondence and flyers. However, the correspondence was not found on his phone, and the evidence in the case consisted of screenshots of a questionnaire for joining the legion, filled out by Sologub. The source believes that the man was corresponding not with a real representative of the Ukrainian unit, but with an FSB officer who gave him a link to a website controlled by the special service.
