Bloomberg: NATO prepares 'defensive military measures' in response to Russian drone incursions in Poland

2025.09.11

The NATO Joint Armed Forces Command in Europe is determining further actions 'to deal with these limited incursions'

According to a source familiar with the situation, NATO is preparing 'defensive military measures' in response to Russian drone incursions in Poland to strengthen deterrence on the alliance's eastern flank, reported Bloomberg.

According to the agency's source, the coordination of measures will be carried out by the Supreme Commander of the NATO Joint Armed Forces in Europe, General Alexus Grynkewich, responsible for planning and conducting all alliance operations. His command is currently assessing the situation and determining what supplies, if any, will be needed.

Grynkewich stated that the alliance 'will learn lessons and determine what we need to strengthen our position to deal with these limited incursions'.

On Thursday, Poland asked allies to provide additional air defense systems and drone countermeasures technologies to better defend against Russian incursions.

After the drone incursions, Poland decided to deploy 40,000 troops to the border with Belarus and Russia, reported TVP World. The German federal government also announced an expansion of military involvement on NATO's eastern flank.

French President Emmanuel Macron announced on social network X that he decided to deploy three Rafale fighters to protect Polish airspace and the 'eastern flank of Europe'.
