Judge Yuri Paltsev of the Vladimir court, who is considering the appeal in the case of Navalny's lawyers, rejected the defense's petition for Alexei Liptsyer to attend the funeral of his mother, Elena Liptsyer, who died on September 5, reported a correspondent from 'Novaya Gazeta' from the courtroom.
The judge considered that since the verdict in the 'extremism' case against Alexei Liptsyer has not come into force, he does not have the right in case of 'exceptional circumstances' to be transferred outside the detention center.
According to the judge, such an 'exceptional right' is only granted to convicts. Meanwhile, as noted by 'Novaya', in November 2023, director Zhenya Berkovich* was transferred to attend her grandmother's funeral, even though she had not yet been convicted.
