European leaders condemned one of Russia's most massive strikes on Ukraine. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the Kremlin is "killing indiscriminately" and declared unconditional support for Ukraine. "We are strengthening the Armed Forces of Ukraine, creating long-term security guarantees, and intensifying sanctions to increase pressure on Russia. The killings must stop," she stated.
European Council President António Costa also published his reaction to the massive Russian strike. "Talking about peace while simultaneously intensifying bombings and attacking government buildings and homes is Putin's version of 'peace.' Russia started this war, and Russia decided to continue it," he wrote on social network X.
As French President Emmanuel Macron believes, Russia is deepening into a logic of war and terror. "On Ukraine's side, we will continue to do everything to ensure a just and lasting peace prevails," emphasized Macron, who held a phone conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky after the attack.
Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský called Russian dictator Vladimir Putin "a coward who attacks women and children." "Putin pretends to want to end the war, but in reality, he only seeks to kill as many Ukrainians as possible," he noted.
Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs emphasized that the response to the Kremlin "should be more weapons for Ukraine, more pressure on Russia."
As stated by Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, "Russian terrorist 'anti-records' demand a decisive response."
