US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth in an interview with Fox News reported that Trump instructed the Pentagon to «restore the US armed forces» amid the rapprochement between Russia and China. In his opinion, this «terrible event» is a consequence of the «lack of American leadership and strength» under Joe Biden's administration.
«The weakness of the previous administration pushed Russia and China closer together — a failure of American leadership. That is why Trump ordered us to rebuild the armed forces, restore the warrior ethos, and maintain deterrence. We will have advantages in space, at sea, in the air, in long-range fire — China will not be able to match us.», — stated Hegseth.
At the same time, he noted that Trump has «excellent relations with Xi Jinping», and Washington «will use this, hoping to find ways for joint work».
