The Volgograd Regional Court sentenced student Nikita Zhuravel to 13 and a half years in a penal colony for 'treason', reported V1.ru.
According to the investigation, the young man sent a video of a train carrying Russian military equipment and military aircraft to Ukrainian intelligence services. The sanctions under this article are from 12 years of imprisonment.
He was transferred to Volgograd, where Zhuravel lived, from Chechnya, where he is serving a sentence for 'offending the feelings of believers'.
In February 2024, 20-year-old Nikita Zhuravel was sentenced to 3.5 years in a penal colony for burning the Quran under articles on 'offending the feelings of believers' and 'hooliganism motivated by religious hatred'. At the same time, the investigation claimed that Zhuravel set fire to the Quran in Volgograd in early May 2023 'on the instructions of the SBU' for a promised reward of 10 thousand rubles.
The case from Volgograd was transferred to Chechnya, where the suspect was also moved. During the investigation, a video appeared on Ramzan Kadyrov's Telegram channel showing his son Adam Kadyrov beating the convicted Zhuravel. Despite numerous appeals to the Investigative Committee, there was no response from law enforcement agencies, and Adam Kadyrov was repeatedly awarded by various regions of Russia.
