UPD: Two more escaped prisoners were detained in the Lipetsk region, they did not manage to leave the region.
Six prisoners escaped from IK-2 in Lipetsk, reported Governor Igor Artamonov. As told to GOROD48 by the Federal Penitentiary Service in the Lipetsk region, the prisoners escaped by digging a tunnel. IK-2 is located in the industrial zone on the outskirts of Lipetsk.
A few hours later, Governor Igor Artamonov reported that the fugitives were detained in the Tambov region — they covered 180 km.
He urged residents not to panic. «We expect a large number of provocations and fake news related to the escape. The information war continues, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not miss the opportunity to take advantage of this situation», he said.
According to channel 112, Federal Penitentiary Service employees discovered a tunnel on the colony's territory, began checking all cells, and found that 6 people were missing.
Channel SHOT published descriptions of five of the six escapees, all of whom are citizens of Uzbekistan. Among them are those convicted of drugs, rape, and pedophilia.
According to Mash, the prisoners prepared the escape for more than six months — they dug a tunnel with a total length of about 65 meters in the industrial zone where they processed wood. A criminal case has been initiated on the negligence of IK-2 officials who allowed the prisoners to escape, reported the regional Investigative Committee. The colony is awaiting inspection. Employees of this colony have already been subject to official checks and dismissal; they allowed prisoners to grill kebabs, drink vodka, and use phones on the colony's territory. In 2021, the scheme was uncovered, and the employees who allowed the prisoners to entertain themselves and turned a blind eye to everything were stripped of their ranks and dismissed.
