The Khabarovsk Regional Court sentenced a resident of Komsomolsk-on-Amur to 12.5 years in a high-security colony, accused of treason in the form of espionage, reports TASS citing the regional FSB office.
According to law enforcement, the man contacted representatives of Ukrainian intelligence via the internet to pass them information about the work of an unnamed defense enterprise in the Khabarovsk region.
The special service announced the initiation of a case against the resident of Komsomolsk-on-Amur in March. It was claimed that the transfer of information "could have allowed the enemy to plan and carry out sabotage activities at the facilities and enterprises of the defense-industrial complex of the Far East."
In March 2023, the FSB reported the detention of a resident of Komsomolsk-on-Amur, who was charged with similar accusations. The editorial staff of "Siberia.Realii"* found out that the detainee's name is Anatoly, he is a former military man, a pensioner, and worked as a security guard. "He is originally from Ukraine, his mother lives there, — Anatoly's neighbors reported. — The man is very pleasant, calm, courteous, and non-drinking. We don't even know why he could have been arrested."
