In Yerevan, a Barnaul activist accused of 'justifying terrorism' in Russia was detained

In March, Roman Shklover was added to the list of 'terrorists and extremists', and in September he was put on the wanted list

On Republic Square in Yerevan, 34-year-old activist of the 'Russian Diaspora of Armenia' (RDA) Roman Shklover from Barnaul, who was put on the wanted list in Russia for a case of 'justifying terrorism', was detained, the community's Telegram channel reported.

According to activists, Shklover was detained by Karen Galustyan, an operative of the criminal investigation department of the Yerevan police, due to the Russian side's search, and the court arrested him for three days.

As 'Mediazona'* found out, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs put Shklover on the wanted list no later than September 16. In March, the activist was added to the list of 'extremists and terrorists', maintained by Rosfinmonitoring. Shklover's name in the list has an asterisk — this means he is accused under a 'terrorist' article.

In 2022, Shklover was brought to administrative responsibility three times under the article on 'inciting hatred'. The first protocol was drawn up against him due to an inscription on the wall of a garage cooperative, 'equating the Ministry of Internal Affairs to an unknown Nazi symbol', for which the man was fined one thousand rubles.

Later, he was arrested for 10 days for a video where law enforcement saw 'insult and humiliation of the dignity of police officers and civil servants'. Then Shklover was assigned 80 hours of community service for another video, which found 'a statement of superiority of a Caucasian woman over a typical Russian woman in terms of lifestyle (behavior, upbringing)'.

* Recognized in Russia as a 'foreign agent'.
